Gatorade G2 gift basket giveaway!

Disclaimer - I've received no compensation for this post.  Gatorade sent me the gift basket, which I have decided to give to a lucky reader.

I shared the good news last week over on my main blog, A Life Less Sweet, that Gatorade has removed HFCS from their G2 line of drinks.  Hip, hip hooray!  I must admit, I don't particularly care for the flavor of Gatorade.  My husband on the other hand loves it.  While he doesn't drink it on a regular basis, he does like to drink Gatorade after strenuous activity - when a sports drink is actually appropriate.

So...for all of you fitness buffs out there, here's a giveaway for you!  A lovely Gatorade gift box! In the gift box are three bottles of Gatorade G2 (grape and glacier freeze flavors), a Gatorade towel (the perfect size to mop off sweat during a workout), and a Gatorade water bottle.

Win it!

Get a free sample of Teekanne Herbal Wellness Tea!

Disclaimer:  I will be receiving samples of Teekanne tea to try.  Look for a review of their tea in the future!

A couple of weeks ago I received an e-mail from Teekanne, a herbal tea company.  For a limited time, Teekanne is offering a free sample of their herbal wellness tea to anyone that who joins the Teekanne "Wellness Community."  All you have to do is go to the Teekanne site and join their Wellness Community (the box with the green header on the right side of the site).  Be sure to enter the promo code WELLNESS to get your free tea sample!

I have not tried this tea yet, but I am intrigued by it.  They have a lot of great looking flavors, and the ingredients are nice and simple.  Can't wait to get my samples to give it a taste!

Musselman's helps in the fight against breast cancer

Disclaimer:  I have received free samples of applesauce from Musselman's in the past.

Kudos to Musselman's!  They're donating 10 cents to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) for every single package of Musselman's Natural Applesauce sold during the month of January.  The NBCF is dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.

Musselman's has been generous with samples of their applesauce in the past, so I can say with confidence that their natural applesauce is good stuff.  It has a nice, fresh apple taste that is excellent in baked goods.

Need a reason to buy some applesauce?  Check out some recipes that I posted a while back.  Or maybe try one of these recipes from Musselman's applesauce!  (I've not tried these, by the way, but they do look good!)

Craig's Apple Pork Chops
  • 4 boneless pork chops (1/2 inch thick)
  • 1/4 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 c chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1-1/2 cups MUSSELMAN'S Natural Apple Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Lightly flour, salt and pepper both sides of the pork chops. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown pork chops in oil on both sides. Remove chops to a plate, leaving any remaining oil in the skillet. Add onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt and pepper to the skillet to quickly brown 1 minute. Remove from heat, add the apple sauce and cinnamon and stir together. Add pork chops back to the pan and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until center temp is 155 to 165 degrees.

Good Morning Muffins
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups MUSSELMAN'S Natural Apple Sauce
Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with bake cups and set aside. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter on high for about 30 to 60 seconds; set aside to cool slightly.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a large mixing bowl. In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs and brown sugar. Stir in the applesauce and melted butter until the mixture is smooth. Pour the apple mixture over the flour mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until combined and you can't see any traces of flour.

Fill the bake cups about two-thirds full with batter. Bake for 20 minutes or until light brown.
